Who is responsible

Cookies and tracking

This website does not set any cookies. It uses no analytics, advertising, social media or tracking tools, and it does not embed maps, videos or other content from third parties. Fonts and images are served from this website itself, so your browser does not contact other companies when you browse here. Because no cookies are used, there is no cookie banner.

Links to other websites, such as merrioncharles.com, take you to sites with their own privacy and cookie policies.

When you send an enquiry

The enquiry form asks for your name and email address (required), and optionally your phone or WhatsApp number, the property or city you are interested in, your dates and whether they are flexible, the number of adults and children, and a message.

• Why: only to reply to your enquiry. The website has no newsletter or marketing sign-up.
• Your agreement: the form asks you to tick a box agreeing that your details may be used to reply to your enquiry. You can withdraw this at any time by emailing us.
• How it is handled: when you press Send, the website checks the form and passes its contents by email to Merrion at apartments@merrioncharles.com. The website does not keep a copy of your enquiry in a database or file.
• After that: your enquiry arrives as an email in Merrion's mailbox and is handled as correspondence with you.

Protecting the form from abuse

To stop automated spam without using third-party services such as CAPTCHA, the form uses some short-lived technical measures:

• a signed, time-limited code that the page requests when you start using the form, checked when you send it (valid for up to two hours, single use);
• a hidden field that people do not see but automated programs tend to fill in;
• a limit on how many enquiries can be sent from one connection. For this, the server keeps a small counter linked to a one-way coded version of your internet (IP) address, not the address itself, together with the times of recent enquiries. These counters, and a record that a code has been used, are deleted automatically within about 24 hours.

These measures do not use cookies and are not used to identify or profile you.

Server logs and email

Like most websites, the web server that hosts this site may automatically record technical information such as IP addresses, pages requested, dates and browser type, for security and maintenance. Email passes through, and is stored by, the email providers involved in sending and receiving it. These are standard features of hosting and email services, and how long such logs are kept depends on their settings.

Your rights

Under data protection law (including the GDPR) you have rights over your personal information, including asking to see it, to have it corrected or deleted, and withdrawing your agreement at any time. To do so, email apartments@merrioncharles.com. If you are unhappy with how your information has been handled, you can complain to the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it), or the authority where you live.

Changes

If the way this website works changes, for example if a new feature uses cookies, this page will be updated first.
