The apartment
Biblioteca Liberty is on the second floor of a Liberty-style palazzo in the Politeama area of Palermo. It is the much-loved home and design of the architect Giuseppe Amato, and its original, creative interiors and warm atmosphere make an impression from the moment you walk in, while still feeling genuinely Sicilian.
The library that gives the apartment its name is the centrepiece: shelves of books rise to the ceiling around two living rooms. The larger is the main sitting room; the smaller, with its glass table, suits reading, private dining or working. Original art and objets d'art are everywhere.
The three double bedrooms are individually designed, each with its own small terrace. The two shower rooms are exceptional, designed with clean lines, relaxing tones and top materials. The kitchen is inviting for anyone who enjoys cooking, and cookery classes or a Sicilian chef can be arranged here.
The owners are welcoming and can help with all manner of concierge requests and activities, including private boat trips and guided tours of Palermo and further afield. It is ideal for one to three couples, for a short break, a honeymoon or a longer stay, with Monreale, Cefalù, Trapani and the Greek temples all within reach.
